The rapid growth of service, technical, and health care industries based on increasingly complex technologies has made effective communication in the workforce even more crucial than it has been in the past. How do you prepare non-native speakers of English for the specialized language needs of the new workplace? Continuing Education's Workforce English as a second language (ESL) programs at MCTC can help.
See our course schedule for classes being offered in ESL.

Please contact Edward Voeller, Director of Workforce ESL, by phone (612.659.6000 ext. 4436) or email for a consultation on how Continuing Education can improve the effectiveness of your workforce with customized programs in English as a second language.
Training begins with an assessment of the requirements of the workplace as well as the language skills of the employees. In consultation with employers, we determine together the level and focus of a customized ESL program. We train non-native English users for the specific needs of a company, a division, a manager - even a specific task. With the specialized and varied needs of the new workplace, it's not just one-course-fits-all anymore.
Continuing Education at MCTC draws upon the resources of one of the largest and oldest ESL programs in the Midwest. With expertise in designing ESL courses for specific purposes, we incorporate in our customized programs the level, vocabulary, usage, and cultural content that meet the needs of new workplace employers and employees.
We introduce new ESL courses for open enrollment on a regular basis.
Visit MCTC's ESL webpage for more information on our credit-based ESL program.
